Eira Wool Wash — Sheepskin & Wool Care
Details
Give your sheepskin and wool pieces the care they deserve. The Eira Wool Wash is a gentle, specialist formula designed to cleanse and restore natural softness to sheepskin rugs, ugg boots, and all wool products — without stripping the fibres of their natural lanolin.
Infused with Australian Tea Tree Oil and Lemon Myrtle, it's naturally antibacterial, biodegradable, and beautifully fragrant. Made to be kind to your pieces and kind to the planet.
Suitable for hand washing and machine washing on a gentle cold cycle.
How to use
Add a small amount to cold or lukewarm water and wash gently. For machine washing, use a delicate or wool cycle with cold water. Reshape while damp and dry flat in the shade away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Do not use hot water and never tumble dry.
Why wool wash matters
Regular wool wash maintains the natural lanolin in sheepskin fibres — the same lanolin that keeps your pieces soft, supple, and long-lasting. Using a specialist formula rather than regular detergent is the single most important thing you can do to extend the life of your sheepskin products.
Ethical Sourcing — Kangaroo Hide
We believe in being open about where our materials come from and why we choose them. Here is everything you need to know about the kangaroo hide used in this product.
WHY KANGAROO
Kangaroo hide is one of the most sustainable natural materials available in Australia. It is a byproduct of government-regulated population management, meaning no animal is harvested solely for its hide. Using this material honours the whole animal and reduces waste from an already necessary process.
Kangaroo hide is exceptionally durable, naturally soft, and requires far less land and water to produce than farmed livestock hides. It is one of the few materials with a genuinely low ecological footprint.
POPULATION MANAGEMENT IN AUSTRALIA
Kangaroos are not a threatened species. In many parts of Australia, kangaroo populations grow to levels that place significant pressure on native ecosystems, water sources, and agricultural land. When populations exceed what the land can sustainably support, they can cause serious environmental degradation — including the destruction of habitat for smaller, more vulnerable native species.
To manage this, the Australian Government administers a national commercial kangaroo harvest program under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. This program sets strictly controlled quotas each year, based on independent population surveys, to ensure harvesting remains well within sustainable limits. It is one of the most rigorously managed wildlife programs in the world.
Culling is conducted by licensed, trained professionals in the field and is subject to strict codes of practice governing humane methods. The program is audited and reviewed regularly by federal and state wildlife authorities.
OUR SOURCING COMMITMENT
The kangaroo hide used in Eira Living products is sourced exclusively from suppliers operating within Australia's national commercial harvest program. We do not source from operations outside this regulated framework.
We are committed to full traceability in our supply chain and will only work with suppliers who can demonstrate compliance with Australian wildlife regulations and humane handling standards.
A NOTE FOR INTERNATIONAL CUSTOMERS
We understand that kangaroo products can raise questions for customers outside Australia, where the full context of population management may not be widely known. We welcome any questions and are happy to share further information about our sourcing on request.
Please note that import restrictions on kangaroo products vary by country. It is the customer's responsibility to confirm that importation is permitted in their destination country before placing an order.
